How to update your Gingerbread to ICS 4.0.4 in Neo V

Gingerbread(2.3.4) is a smooth, stable and most compatible Android operating system. Most of the Xperia phones including Neo V are shipped with Gingerbread. Sony had kept their promise by rolling out first batch of ICS 4.0.3 update to 3 Xperia models(Neo V, Arc S, Xperia Ray).Towards the end of May they released the improved version of ICS 4.0.4 to other models also. 4.0.4 is also a fast, compatible operating system comparable to GB.
How to update GB to 4.0.4 in Xperia phones:
1)Make sure your phone is atleast 50% charged.
2) Go to Settings>Sony Ericsson>Connectivity Settings>Usb connection mode
3) Set Usb connection mode in Media storage mode(MTP)
4) tick PC Companion
5) Plug your phone to PC via usb cable
6)PC Companion will prompt will display on your phone.
7)Select 'install' if PC Companion is not installed on your PC. Select 'skip' if you need to manually install on your PC.
8)After PC Companion is installed, open it and click 'update your phone' on the top left corner of PC Companion.
9) Follow instructions from PC Companion to update your phone.







   


If your phone is updated to 4.0.3 only, you will have to wait for the 4.0.4 update to be released for the SI number of your phone.

Sony releases ICS 4.0.4 update for phones with certain SI numbers each time. You will have to wait till your phone's SI number is listed.


How to find SI number:

1)Switch off your phone
2) Remove your back cover of the phone
3) Remove the battery and you will find the SI number there.




  

Now that you have found your SI number, make note of it. Ready!
